Theater to host piano recital

The Friends of the Conservatory of Music of Madeira (AACMM) will open the artistic season 2009/2010 with a piano recital. The concert, scheduled for 21:30 tomorrow, October 6th, will bring to the stage of the Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias of Funchal, the Taiwanese pianist Meng-Hua Lin. Meng-Hua Lin at present is a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in the United States, where she studied with Ian Hobson. She Completed her master degree at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, studying with Hanna Wu Li, also she obtained the certificate of interpretation at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, where she studied with Nina Svetlanova.

However, the ambitious goal of the U.S.A. to stop the destruction of many natural habitats is far from reality. The alert came from a team of researchers at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania.

Partnership with Carnegie Mellon University is well accepted

Once again, the work of the University of Madeira (UMa) as part of the CarnegieMellon|Portugal partnership, was highlighted by the ‘auditors’ of the program’. The most recent report,conducted by the External Review Committee which evaluates the CarnegieMellon|Portugal partnership, was released on September 24th, and gives a very positive balance of the work completed. Among other things, it highlights the impact generated in higher education institutions, giving as a good example the recently created Interactive Technologies Institute in UMa.

MUITOS dos estudantes da Faculdade de Ciências optaram por continuar após os três anos das licenciaturas At University of Coimbra (FEUC), with the Faculty of Economics, the Master of Sustainable Energy, Quantitative Methods in Finance, Social Dynamics and Technological and Natural Hazards are given together. Even more, there is another master with Carnegie Mellon University, the Master in Software Engineering. Changes in the universities were well accepted

 

After meeting with Castanheira da Costa, dean of the University of Madeira (UMa),and candidate Isabel Sena Lino who said on yesterday, the measures introduced by the Central Government in higher education were well received by Universities in the Portugal area. Isabel Sena Lino highlighted the promotion of the internationalization of higher education in Portugal. In this context she cited the cooperation within the CMU-Portugal Program, launched in 2006 between the Portuguese government, through the Foundation for Science and Technology, and Carnegie Mellon University in U.S.A. in the area of information technology and communication.

Children have evidence of depression and anxiety

The study was conducted by an international team of researchers from University of Montréal, Laval University and McGill University in Canada, INSERM (Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale in France, Carnegie Mellon University in U.S.A., and University College Dublin in Ireland.
