New products and services on future internet, security and protection of critical infrastructures, and technologies in new interactive media are the three networks that the Carnegie Mellon | Portugal Program will launch next week in Coimbra and Lisbon.

First graduates under the Carnegie Mellon | Portugal Program receive their diplomas

Today, February 22 2010, at the Universidade de Coimbra, the Carnegie Mellon | Portugal Program held the 2010 Diploma Ceremony honoring the achievements of the professional masters graduates of December 2008 and December 2009. José F. Mendes, vice-rector of the Universidade de Aveiro, will give 11 diplomas to the graduates in the Professional Master of Science in Information Networking (MSIN).

“This is an investment from a Portuguese brand in the USA”

This sentence was uttered by the Portuguese ambassador Washington, DC, João de Vallera. In an interview to a Portuguese newspaper, Vallera explained that the investment from EDP (Electricity of Portugal), a Portuguese company in the energy sector, will strengthen and increase the commercial exchanges with the biggest economy in the world. Other positive examples are the partnerships established in areas like research and education with American universities, such as MIT and Carnegie Mellon University.

Ten Portuguese organizations were invited to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Week, organized by the Center of Companies and Innovation from Madeira (CEIM), and the vice-presidency of the regional government of Madeira. During five days all the institutions promoted qualified entrepreneurship.

New Interactive Technologies Institute starts in January 2010

Madeira ITI December 2009 The new Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute will operate as a separate department, with the primary objective of maintaining relationships and projects for sustainable and long-term cooperation with other institutions at Carnegie Mellon University. The Institute follows the success achieved in the dual Professional Master’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), under the Carnegie Mellon | Portugal Partnership.
