In the media: Inês Lynce on Breaking Barriers and Retaining Talent

In an interview with Dinheiro Vivo, Inês Lynce, National co-director of the CMU  Portugal Program and President of INESC-ID, shares an overview of the Portuguese landscape focusing on topics such as the salary imbalance in the first job in Portugal when compared to what is practiced abroad. According to her, it is crucial to retain qualified talent by “creating conditions so that this experience is temporary and not permanent or irreversible.”

As the first woman to preside over INESC-ID and to lead the CMU Portugal Program,  Lynce also highlights the importance of supporting more women into leadership positions and having female role models in the technology sector, referring to Carnegie Mellon as a success case: “Carnegie Mellon is a great reference since they managed, to have parity in the Computer Science course itself”. This was only possible by creating an environment where girls felt  empowered and supported.

Regarding the CMU Portugal program, she highlights that having an experience at CMU is an excellent opportunity for students to open their horizons, learn diverse ways of working, and expand their knowledge.
