Universidade da Madeira Celebrates its 27 th Anniversary
On the occasion of its 27 th anniversary, the Universidade da Madeira celebrates by declaring a day of festivities and the launch of the book “Universidade da Madeira: 25 anos”. On the Dia da Universidade (University’s Day), José Molarinho Carmo, the Rector of Universidade da Madeira, talks about the institution’s accomplishments and reaffirms the plans to continue to focus on internationalization and developing the region. The institution also plans to open new courses, in a variety of areas, in a bid to attract more students.

Universidade da Madeira is one of the partner Institutions of the Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program, hosting PhD and Master Degree students, as well as participating in research projects and initiatives. Earlier this year, the Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute (M-ITI) Madeira’s not-for-profit innovation institute, was declared a public service institution that “organizes and carries out its activities, without profit, for the benefit of the entire region”.
