New leader of the Universities Give Priority to Strengthening the Autonomy
António Cunha has replaced António Rendas as new president of the Council of Deans of Portuguese Universities (CRUP). António Cunha is currently the rector of the Universidade do Minho . António Rendas states that the four years as CRUP leader were “difficult” but all the experience “was very enriching.” Science and internationalisation of higher education were his main contributions to the sector. Rendas considers that some of his major achievements were the “positive role” in the transition between the current and previous governments regarding to partnerships with foreign institutions such as the universities of Harvard, Carnegie Mellon and MIT to scientific research.
