European Space Agency Distinguishes inRes Startup
One of the inRes 2016 selected teams, All in Surf, won 3rd place in the Space Moves! Competition organized by the European Space Agency on 18 to 19 September in Berlin. The contest distinguished the best business ideas and technologies with the maturity and potential to thrive in the business context.
The European Space Agency (ESA) has identified the technological potential of the project for integration in a spatial context, since it is a system that is able to relativize geo-referenced measurements to adjust them to an aquatic environment. Márcio Borgonovo dos Santos, co-founder of All in Surf and researcher at the Biomechanics Laboratory of Porto (LABIOMEP) also received the ESA’s “Young Investigator in Space” grant for taking the project to Space Moves!.
The objective of the All in Surf project is to obtain analytical information on the performance of a surf athlete. The system, designed to integrate surfboards, collects data through multiple sensors, allowing the monitoring and analysis of the surfer’s movements. It also allows the identification and use of learning factors, performance improvement, decision support while in competitions, as well as situations of gamefication and information sharing in social networks.
