On February 19, 2026, the CMU Portugal Program hosted a spring luncheon for the students currently studying in Pittsburgh. As we settle into the new semester, this event gives the students an opportunity to take a breath, grab some comfort food, and look ahead to the year.
Attending students were from five CMU departments: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering and Public Policy, Machine Learning, and Software and Societal Systems, and represented 6 Portuguese academic institutions: Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Aveiro, and Universidade do Minho.
A message to your future self:
During lunch, there was a special station set up for the students to write a letter to their future self. This activity encourages students to reflect on their journey, document their growth, and give their future selves a boost. The students will receive the letters in the mail one year from now.
