Twenty Million Euros for the New Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program
The Carnegie Mellon Portugal program was renewed until 2017 and will receive four million euros of annual funding. The renewal agreement was signed today, September 27, 2012, between the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the Council of Rectors of the Portuguese Universities (CRUP) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). The Carnegie Mellon Portugal program was so successful that it is serving as a model for other partnerships in countries like China. The Program has opened the door for students, teachers and researchers in Portugal that were able to work at Carnegie Mellon in the U.S., and gave rise to several technology-based start-ups.
