The Optimistic Revolutionary – Interview with Manuela Veloso
A well-known artificial intelligence expert, Manuela Veloso, is the Head of the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University, co-founder of RoboCup (Robot Football League) and the Portuguese who is revolutionizing robotics.
The quarterly print magazine ‘Comunicações’, of the Associação Portuguesa para o Desenvolvimento das Comunicações – APDC (Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications), has published an extensive interview on Manuela Veloso, that spans her early years to her career now. She is portrayed as one of the optimistic voices in the artificial intelligence debate, steadfast in her believe that AI will be what we humans make of it.
Professor Veloso was one of the speakers of the BPM Conference Portugal, by Rumos, titled “Business disruption: the new paradigms and speed of change”, and the APDSI Conference, titled “Social and Technological Challenges in the Conception of Robots”.
