Susana Sargento Talks About S2MovingCity Project on Antena 1
CMU Portugal Program Principal Investigator and Faculty Exchange Member, Susana Sargento, was the guest of the new radio program “90 minutos de ciência” (90 minutes of science) on the Portuguese public radio station Antena 1. The episode was on the air on the evening of December 15 th and again on the following morning.

Susana Sargento describes the project S2MovingCity: Sensing and Serving a Moving City, that she leads with Carnegie Mellon’s Manuela Veloso. This project aims to make use of the vehicular and sensing infrastructure to provide new knowledge and a proof of concept for massive urban sensing of people, vehicles, and environment, supporting data-driven city planning and decision making.

Susana Sargento is the recipient of the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2016, a distinction that aims to raise public awareness of the need for more innovation and more women entrepreneurs. She is a faculty member of the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the University of Aveiro (UA) and researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), co-founded Veniam, a startup that created and is managing the biggest vehicle network in the world. The company is a spin-off from the UA, the IT and the University of Porto, and was born with the support of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and the CMU Portugal Program.
