Mariano Gago, the physicist Joseph Socrates decided to keep in office, took the last four years for a commitment to the scientific development of the Portuguese, closed three private universities, established the model of university-foundation and consolidated Bologna. The minister also focused on protocols with large American institutions for advanced research programs, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and the University of Texas at Austin. |
