Pedro Amorim: the PhD Degree as Gateway into Teaching
Pedro Amorim is the youngest professor of the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto at 29 years old. He joined the faculty of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management as an assistant professor, the same department that hosted him as a student. With an already impressive resume, he is also an Erasmus coordinator, MsC and Phd advisor and an entrepreneur.

Pedro Amorim was a participant of CMU Portugal Program’s Faculty Exchange Program, spending almost three months in Pittsburgh, hosted by Prof. Ignacio E. Grossman of the Chemical Engineering Department. In an interview with Público, Pedro Amorim talks about his career path so far and how his time at Carnegie Mellon University inspired him.
