E4Value Project Members visit CMU
Portuguese PI and Professor Miguel Amaral and Professor Ana Barros will also give a talk on the EPP Seminar on Tuesday, August 23, at 12 p.m.
The Innovation Dynamics in Aeronautics and Embraer in Évora (E4Value) Project PI Miguel Amaral and Professor Ana Barros will visit CMU Pittsburgh campus, between 23 and 25 August, and will present an overview and the first results of the project on Tuesday, 23, on the EPP Seminar. The visit also includes meetings with CMU PI, Professor Granger Morgan (EPP).
The Entrepreneurial Research Initiative E4Value looks at the increasing complexity and uncertainty of technological advances and related value chains and business configurations in aeronautics. It was motivated by the installation in Évora, Portugal, in 2012, of two Embraer plants for the production of aircraft wings in metal and composites. It has the ultimate goal of securing the role of Portuguese firms as centers of excellence in aeronautics.
The two plants in Évora are a singular case: although being fully Embraer, both plants are also considered first tier suppliers of Embraer Brazil. This requires the full integration of their activities within the needs of Embraer Brazil while also keeping a competitive edge with respect to other suppliers in Embraer’s supply network.
The project develops research activities within three main areas: technology, supply chain, and competences.
