CMU Portugal PI Awarded with EU Prize for Women Innovators 2016
One of the founders of Veniam and Principal Investigator of one of CMU Portugal Entrepreneurial Research Initiatives, Susana Sargento, won the European Union Prize for Women Innovators 2016. This award aims to raise public awareness of the need for more innovation and more women entrepreneurs.
The finalists were selected by a high-level jury consisting of independent experts from business, venture capital, entrepreneurship and academia.
Susana who is a faculty member of the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the University of Aveiro (UA) and researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), co-founded Veniam, a startup that created and is managing the biggest vehicle network in the world. The company is a spin-off from the UA, the IT and the University of Porto, and was born with the support of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and the CMU Portugal Program.
