CMU Portugal Ph. D. Alumnus André Martins receives the ERC Grant worth 1,4 million euros
André Martins, CMU Portugal dual degree Ph. D. alumnus and currently, Head of Research at Unbabel and researcher at the Telecommunications Institute (IT), is one of the fellows that will receive 1,442 million euros for a study on deep learning for structured prediction in natural language processing, as part of the ERC Grant.
The European Research Council awarded grants of 605 million euros in total to 406 early-stage researchers and eight Portuguese or working in Portugal.
This scholarship is awarded to researchers who have had a doctorate for at most seven years to create their research group. The eight Portuguese researchers or those working in Portugal are part of a group of 406 scientists who were awarded scholarships by the European Research Council with a total value of 605 million euros.
