CMU Portugal Has €1,2 million for Exploratory Research Initiatives

The CMU Portugal Program has launched the call for Exploratory Research Projects (ERPs), financed by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.

Priority will be given to proposals in the context of the Atlantic International Research Center (AIR Center), data science, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, applied mathematics, and technology management.

Depending on the quality of the proposals, 7 to 10 new awards are expected to be financed, lasting 12 calendar months or less.

The total investment available to Portuguese research institutions is 700 thousand euros, plus about 500 thousand dollars for complementary research, at Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. The deadline is April 12, 2017.

So far, in the ten years of existence of the CMU Portugal Program, a total of 47 projects have been supported. Of those, 25 projects took place in the first phase of the partnership and 22 are still active under the second phase.
