CMU Portugal 2020 Mobility Programs: Calls for Visiting Faculty & Researchers and Visiting Students Programs

Calls for the CMU Portugal Program Visiting Faculty & Researchers and Visiting Students Programs are open between December 2nd, 2019 and January 12th, 2020,  aimed for visits to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 2020. Both calls are launched under the CMU Portugal Program with the support of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT).

The CMU Portugal Visiting Faculty & Researchers Program will allow up to 6 grantees to spend 1 to 4 months working in research, education and innovation in ICT with peers at Carnegie Mellon University, to experience its culture and best practices. Candidates must be Portuguese citizens or foreign citizens with permanent residence in Portugal who hold a doctoral degree by the time of the application and are affiliated with a Portuguese Higher Education Institution or Research lab.
The Visiting Faculty and Researchers Program builds up on the success of the Faculty Exchange Program, initiated in 2007, that counted with the participation of 81 faculty members. In 2019, the first edition of this renamed initiative took 10 Portuguese researchers from 7 different Portuguese research centers/universities  to Pittsburgh who were received in six different departments at CMU including: Human-Computer Interaction InstituteComputer ScienceDepartment of Electrical and Computer EngineeringDepartment of PsychologyInstitute for Software Research and Department of Mechanical Engineering. The CMU Portugal Visiting Students Program will allow up to 8 Master students to spend 2 to 6 months working in research in ICT at CMU, be mentored by leading faculty and researchers, and have the opportunity to be immersed in Carnegie Mellon’s culture. Candidates must be Portuguese citizens or foreign citizens with permanent residence in Portugal, affiliated with a Portuguese Higher Education Institution or Research Lab and be enrolled in a Master’s Program at the time of the application. The Visiting Students Program builds up on the success of the Undergraduate Internship Program initiated in 2014 that counted with the participation of 41 students.
