The CMU Portugal Program is launching a call for Exploratory Research Projects (ERPs) open from June 28th until July 30, 2019, 12:00 pm EST. In this context, the CMU Portugal National Director at Portugal, Nuno Nunes, will discuss on July 10th at 10:00 am EST, the ERP Call & Phase III Initiatives
The presentation session will take place at the Hamburg Hall, Room 1208.
ERPs are small one year projects designed to help researchers from Portuguese institutions, Carnegie Mellon University and possibly industry partners, to bootstrap high-impact potential research activities of strategic relevance for the Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program.
The ERPs focus is the broad ICT area, with emphasis on:
- Data Science and Engineering
- Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Language Technologies, Data Analytics and Cloud and Edge Computing
- Autonomy and Mobility
- Design in a Variety of Societal Settings and Applications such as tourism, logistics or creative industries (just as examples)
The total funding available for Portuguese research institutions, as part of this research call will be up to €400.000. A similar amount will be available to support the CMU teams. ERPs are planned to start in 2019. The maximum amount per CMU team should parallel the maximum amount on the Portuguese side (70K euros for projects involving more than one Portuguese research institution and 50K euros for projects with a single Portuguese institution).
The team from CMU will be supported by the CMU|Portugal Program at CMU.
