My name is João Pedro Paiva, I am 24 years old, and I am from Covilhã, Portugal. I have been a student at Universidade da Beira Interior ever since 2017. I have a bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Engineering and Industrial Management. My research areas include Smart cities, IoT, and Public Policies.
Ehsan Farzadnia
I am a data engineer with a solid background in anomaly detection, currently focused on neuroimaging. Before starting my PhD, I spent seven years refining machine learning models to enhance system security through immunity measures, leading an AI research team and contributing to several peer-reviewed publications. My interest in neurolife and psychiatric disorders led me to deepened my knowledge in the field. I’d like to develop diagnostic biomarkers and make reliable predictions of mental illnesses leveraging my expertise in anomaly detection. I had the honor of collaborating with VMware and am passionate for open-source development and Git. The ultimate goal of my doctoral work is to enhance mental health care and reduce treatment costs.
Mariana Nunes
I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, specializing in Imagiology, Biosignals, and Biomedical Instrumentation. My research focuses on leveraging machine learning for biosignal analysis, with the goal of advancing innovations in health technology.
Ying Xu
Ying Xu received her Bachelor of Engineering degree and an MPhil degree in Design from Wuhan University of Technology. She is working on her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the Interactive Technologies Institute, Técnico-University of Lisbon, with Prof. Nuno Jardim Nunes as her supervisor and Prof. Jessica Hammer as her co-supervisor.
