Ricardo Nuno de Pinho Coelho Conde Marques is a student in the Master of Science in Information Networking with a focus on Information Security (MSIN-IS) program, studying at the University of Lisbon. He received his bachelor of science in computer science from the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Sciences. In his previous work experience, Marques had been running his own business for several years, developing custom-tailored applications using databases, distributed computing, and other technologies. More recently, as a System Architect and Security Lead, he was involved in researching and developing technologies for network management systems at Nokia Siemens Networks. His research interests include software security and usability, but he is also interested in how the technologies solve business needs: “My job is to understand the technology and to see how it fits in the company's profile and roadmap, while at the same time ensuring that the development teams are aware of what they need to do.” Marques decided to join the MSIT-IS program to “refresh some of the concepts learned during my college education, and enhance my capabilities in other areas of knowledge.” Hailing from Azambuja, Portugal, he enjoys cinema, swimming, and tennis. Marques says that his professional goals are to become the best in his area of expertise at Nokia Siemens, and to help educate others about networking security and why it’s important.
